Algeria is no more among the less developed 60 countries

The yearly report of this publication, specialized in foreign policy issues “For Young Policy”, entitled “countries in failure” that Algeria has occupied an average position, with 72 just after Saudi Arabia out of 148 states which have been studied in the report, in which Norway, Sweden and Finland are placed in the first positions, considered as the most economically, politically and military stable countries. Sudan, Congo and Iraq are in the red zone along with Yemen, Northern Korea, Afghanistan and Somalia, considered as the States which are near to collapse from the political, military, economic and social point of view.

The report of the American publication was based on more than 11 thousand sources of general information during the period of July to December 2005, concerning the classification of States as to what extend they were affected by violent internal conflicts. The study, carried on 148 States, including Algeria, has relied on 12 indicators concerning how much States control the management of their territory, the ability of States to provide internal security, essential public services provided to citizens, the legitimacy of the authority to their citizens, and other mechanisms which are considered as necessary in the classification of internal States’ situation.

The 12 indicators, fixed by the specialized American publication and its impact on internal and political stability, show that the worst marks given to Algeria are due to the sides relating to the respect of human rights, the increase of criminality rates, regression of essential public services given to citizens, poor competitive capacity of the national economy, and other indicators which allowed Algeria to get 8.77 point and a 72 rank world wide.
