Tangier-Med : Police foil traffic attempt of over 5 tons of chira to a European port

The Tangier-Med police managed on Tuesday to foil a traffic operation of 5,540 tons of chira on board an international freight truck heading to a European port, says the national police (DGSN) in a statement.

Investigations led to the arrest of the 30-year-old driver, a Moroccan national, while search operations helped by sniffer dogs made it possible to seize the illicit substance hidden inside the semi-trailer.

The suspect was remanded in custody to complete the investigation led by the Tangier judicial police, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, in order to determine the ins and outs of this case, according to the same source.
