Families of the Moroccan nationals detained in Libya have demonstrated this morning in front of the Ministry of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Emigration, said Mehdi Alioua, a sociologist and head of «Groupe antiraciste de défense et d'accompagnement des étrangers et migrants» (Gadem), when contacted by Yabiladi.

As a reminder, 200 Moroccan nationals are currently held in Libya, reduced to slavery.

These people, who have been held in detention centers for several months, have recently started recording videos and publishing them on the website of the official Libyan official body for the fight against illegal immigration, hoping for an intervention of the Moroccan authorities. Faced with neglect, they also started a hunger strike.

For his part the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and civil society, Spokesperson of the Government, Mustapha El Khalfi, said that the government is working «with great seriousness» to conclude the operation of repatriation of Moroccan migrants held in Libya.
