Morocco holds marches for International Palestinian Solidarity Day

Many Moroccan cities witnessed marches and sit-ins in support of the Palestinian people over the past three days, marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977 to affirm the international commitment to supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

The Moroccan Commission for Supporting the Nation's Causes stated in a communiqué that the Moroccan people mobilized «on Friday, November 29, 2024, in 105 demonstrations across 48 Moroccan cities as part of the 60th consecutive Al-Aqsa Flood Friday».

Yesterday, Sunday, the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization organized a massive popular march in Casablanca. Meanwhile, security authorities intervened in Ait Melloul and Safi to forcibly prevent the solidarity marches. In Meknes, authorities blocked participants from reaching the Carrefour store to protest its alleged support for Israel.

The common threads among all the solidarity marches included the raising of Palestinian flags, wearing keffiyehs, chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian people and their resistance, calling for an end to normalization with Israel, and condemning international support for Israel amid its ongoing crimes against civilians in Palestine.
