Canary Islands President to visit Morocco this week to boost science and innovation cooperation

The President of the Canary Islands Government will be visiting Morocco this week to advance the cooperation and joint work between the two governments, the spokesman for the Canary Islands Government, Alfonso Cabello, said on Monday.

Speaking to the media during a press conference following the Government Council meeting, Cabello said that Fernando Clavijo will lead an «important delegation» that will focus specifically on scientific, technological, and innovation projects.

«We are talking about more than 30 scientists, Canarian experts, entrepreneurs, and representatives of knowledge centers with the clear intention of continuing to add different cooperation initiatives of the Government of the Canary Islands in the countries of West Africa», he noted.

Cabello said that these experts will be present in Morocco for «an important and intense day of work at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University».

It was not long ago that the President of the Canary Islands Government visited Morocco. On October 8, Clavijo visited Rabat, where he held talks with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

During this visit, Clavijo said on the Sahara issue that «the government of the Canary Islands fully adopts the policy of the Spanish government; it could not be otherwise. This support has created a climate of trust and cooperation that we want to strengthen, as we agreed today with the minister».
